If you are a Teacher, Associate Teacher or Infant Toddler Educator, you can be a mentor and have a mentee assigned to work in your classroom while acquiring hours to obtain a Child Development Permit.
If you are interested in participating in the 2026 mentorship program, please fill out the form below by December 17th, 2025. Mentors will receive a $250 stipend for each mentee assigned to their classroom. https://forms.gle/1RFaezwxUQLrUFSr5
IEEEP Survey
As part of the IEEEP consortia, SCOE GO center based staff is required to respond to the 2025 IEEEP Survey. The survey gathers information about educators’ experience with professional development and will be used to determine if professional development is of high quality, useful, and applicable to classrooms that are either inclusive or striving towards inclusion. Survey deadline is Friday, December 12, 2025.
Child Abuse Reporting Reminder
As a reminder all staff are required to submit a detailed Child Protective Services (CPS) report whenever staff suspect child abuse or neglect. If you are not sure if a situation is reportable, please call CPS and ask for a consultation. Even if CPS advises that a situation does not need to be reported, we can still submit a written report. If time is needed to complete the report away from the classroom, please make arrangements with your supervisor. As we all know, failure to report suspected child abuse by required timelines can result both discipline and legal repercussions. As a resource, here is our Child Abuse Reporting Guidance.
Active Supervision
Ensure your classroom staff are following their Active Supervision Plan and update if there have been any staffing changes. Supervisors, please utilize the risk assessment form to identify classrooms that may need additional support and reach out to Chris & Jewelee
COPA Updates
The Program Information Report (PIR) has been updated in COPA to reflect changes to Race and Ethnicity of families, children, and staff. The following changes have been made to the database and should be utilized moving forward with all new child and family applications, as well as new staff. The COPA Procedure (E-01 - Applications) has been updated to reflect these changes. For existing children and families that are currently in COPA, PIM will be working on updating Race and Ethnicity. Please contact PIM or QAT for any questions you may have moving forward.
Bi-Racial/Multi-Racial should no longer be used
Children, families, and staff that are considered Bi-Racial/Multi-Racial should have all races selected (ex. Caucasian and Asian)
Other should no longer be used
Hispanic or Latino can now be chosen with no race identified (ex. Hispanic or Latino AND Caucasian can now be just Hispanic or Latino)
Additional race has been added: Middle Eastern or North African
Forms Orders
Supervisors will no longer need to order forms for health staff. The health team will order the forms they need directly through Elfida. This will prevent over ordering forms.
Also, SCOE GO has waivers in place for the following forms. Because if this, do not order the following forms on the master forms order form. Instead, print them from the SCOE GO Canva Drive . We are exploring a process to order these forms on NCR in the future.

School Readiness
Preschool block play supports school readiness by building early math thinking through hands-on exploration of shapes, patterns, measurement, balance, and spatial relationships. As children plan, build, and problem-solve with blocks, they develop foundational skills in geometry, counting, and comparison. Key concepts that prepare them for later math learning and overall cognitive growth. Here is an article, a handout about mathematical questions, and an article about 21st-century skills.

As a friendly reminder, please be sure to check in with your reps and alternates, and confirm whether they will need childcare. Congratulations!
Our wonderful Center Supervisor, Norma Aranda, will be retiring, with her last day of service being Friday, December 19, 2025. Norma has touched the lives of countless children, families, and staff through her dedication and commitment over the past 22 years. Her warmth, leadership, and passion for our program will be deeply missed. Please join me and our GO Team in wishing Norma all the best as she begins this exciting new chapter in her life.
Cindy Trujillo has agreed to substitute in the position and will be on site at Del Puerto this week to support the transition. She will begin supporting MLA as well after winter break.
Art of Sculpture
It’s almost time for the Art of Sculpture to come alive in our preschool classrooms! The four-week study will begin Monday February 2nd. Teacher binders to support the Art of Sculpture curriculum will arrive in the new year. The curriculum is based on the Recycled Materials Study. To assist you, the activity plans are all pre-populated, but teachers have the freedom to make any changes they feel are appropriate for their children. Materials have already been sent out to sites. There are a few odds and ends in Jewelee’s office in case you find that you are missing anything. Each classroom will receive a board to use as a base for their class sculpture. Sculptures can be up to 3 ft tall and up to10 pounds.
Itinerant Preschool Art Assistants will be hired to support implementation of the project. Please refer anyone you know who would be interested in applying for the position to our EdJoin posting: https://www.edjoin.org/Home/JobPosting/2149265
The Art of Sculpture Gala will run over four days: 3/10-3/13 5:30 PM-8:00 PM at the Modesto Children’s Museum. Classrooms have a designated date and time to view the sculpture and experience the Museum. See Schedule
Here is the PowerPoint with details on the project. The PPT contains links to submit candid photos of children participating in the project as well as a class photo by 2/20/26. In addition, SCOE marketing team will visit two sites to snap additional candid photos. Please have families sign the filming consent.
